Mahabaleshwar, Satara-Maharastra.
Mahabaleshwar , it is place where you can relax as you meditate.
It is a famous hill station ,a well known place in Maharastra and India. Its has a list of, magnificent scenic ponts.
If you plan to visit ,plan for two or three days ,if it is not possible then reach early morning ,to experience the morning glory of nature, utilize your total time ans to visit most of points.
What To See -
There is a list of points you can vist here, Mhabaleshwar devided into two parts , New Mahabaleshwar and Old Mahbaleshwar. Most of ponts include in Old Mahabaleshwar, as below,
1. Mahadev or Krishnabai Temple -
A place where Shivaji Maharaj self visited.
Where krishna river is worshiped and built in 1888.
This place is a source of Krishna river that flows through mouth of cow, cow face or go-mukh. That water stream fall on a kunda. Krishna river flows across Maharastra, Telangana and Andhra pradesh.
2. Arthur Seat Pont-
This place is named after a british officer Sir Arthur Malet ,who used to sat here and gazed towards savitry river where he lost his wife and children in tragic mishap.
3. Three monkey point -
This is a natural rock cut view like three monkeys sitting besides.
This point is near to Arthur seat.
4. Kates Point -
This is another view pont from where you can see two reservoirs, Balakwadi and Dhom.
5. Venna Lake -
This lake is also a main tourist attraction, where you can enjoy boat riding, horse riding. This lake is surrounded by trees all side.
6. Elephant Point -
This is a view point ,where formation rock looks like elephant. This point is near to Kates point.
7. Wilson Point -
This is highest point in Mahabaleshwar upto 1439 m. It is named after Sir Leslie Wilson, former Governor of Bombay (that time). It offers to see Mahabaleshwar in all direction.
8. Lingmala waterfalls -
This waterfall cascades into the Venna lake, it falls from 600 feet.
Obviously you can enjoy it more in rainy season.
History -
The first reference about Mahabaleshwar found in 1215 ,when Deogire king singhan visited old Mahabaleshwar, he built krishna mandir to didicate souce of krishna river. At 1350 it was ruled by Brahmin dynasty.Then maratha More family defeated Brahmin and ruled the area.In he 17 th century Shivaji maharaj took over Mahabaleshwar, and at last it comes to British.
How To Go -
It is 45 km from Satara, 120 km from Pune and 260 km from Mumbai.The very convenient way to go Mahabaleshwar is by own or rented four wheeler from Pune or Satara. There is private luxary and government (ST) buses also available .
The nearest railroad is Satara around 60 km.
The nearest airport is Pune international airport.
