General Information -
                                    Visapur fort is a twin fort ,as a part of Lohagad. Though ,its elevation(1,084 m) is higher than Lohagad , it is a well treat for your eyes to view the beauty of nature from top.
Due to high elevation it is also a good point for trekkers, many people come here to enjoy and fulfill their trekking passion.
Though, there are no major construction is exist now , you can see the demolished palace wall and the other building base structures.
You can enjoy here village meal,  at the base of fort. Also, you can spend some important moment here with history and nature, as here are near , Bhaje caves and Lohagad fort.

What To See at Fort-

Among the remaining monuments , you can see the border wall, Arc or doors at various point entrance.
Hanuman mandir you can see here at many places.
A ,very old aged water well.

The common thing at every fort and most important part of safety at that time is a ,iron gun.
One gun here you can see with different feature, as it was taken from British Armour .

You can see the view of Lohagad , near side villages and Forrest.


History -


               As Lohagad fort was becomes a treasury fort for Marathas , where they kept most of the treasury , its became more important for them to protect the Lohagad fort from any attack.
So , Balaji Vishwanath built this fort during 1713-1720 CE.
Balaji Vishwanath was the first Peshwa of maratha empire.

On 4th March 1818 ,Visapur fort was Attacked and occupied by the British.Its high elevation becomes trouble for Lohagad , as British easily Bombarded on the Lohagad and it was als capured by them, nothing was left standing.
British Colonel Prother was in command for the both Fort.


How To Go -


  This place is near to Pune-Mumbai old highway. You can go by your vehicles as roads are in good conditions or you can go by trekking, path route.
From Bhaje there is a straight road with little ghats ,towards Lohagadwadi, a basevillage at Lohagad Fort.

Malavali is a nearest railway station, from where you can go by path route .By path route you will required 2 or three hours to reach at fort.

Nearest Airport is a, Pune airport.
